Resolve to Serve the Lord in the Coming Year

So the house of Israel shall know that I am the LORD their God from that day and forward.  -Ezekiel 39:22 (KJV)

A new year is stretching before us, but how will we meet the challenges that will come?  Will we become discouraged, distraught, or begin to have doubts about the power of God to see us through?  None of those scenarios need happen if we resolve to place Christ at the center of our lives and walk in faith each day.  God’s people the Israelites stood on the verge of a great movement of God’s Spirit, but in order to see this come to pass they had to be faithful.  God told the people through the prophet Ezekiel that so great were the works He would do that from that day forward they would know that the Lord is God.

A positive way to begin the New Year is to resolve that from this day forward we will serve the Lord with glad, thankful, and committed hearts and that nothing will deter us.  Do not allow trials, trouble, worries, or fear to stand in the way of experiencing a great movement of God’s Spirit in the coming year.  As followers of Christ, we stand on the threshold of experiencing the blessings of God in ways that will exceed our greatest expectations.

What are you hoping for in the coming year?  Are you praying for personal renewal?  Are you planning to spend more time in prayer and in God’s Word?  Do you desire to be more committed in sharing your faith with others?  Is it your hope that the congregation in which you serve see unprecedented growth between now and next year?  If so, begin praying that these blessings will come to pass.  Pray that believers will be revived and lost souls will come to faith in Jesus in record numbers.

Remember that with God nothing is impossible.  Resolve to make 2011 a year in which the power of God moves mightily among us.
