Christ is our Shelter in the Storm

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.  I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust."  -Psalm 91:1, 2

If you have ever been caught outside during a storm you know the feeling of trying to find a safe place to take shelter.  The rain begins to fall, the lightning flashes, and the thunder roars overhead.  That’s when we know that we must find shelter and a place of safety.  The Scripture says that the Lord is our shelter during the storms of life.  When the howling winds of trouble begin to blow around us we can look to the Lord and find shelter in Him.

I have no idea what you may be facing today, but God does indeed know.  Furthermore, He understands and wants to offer comfort in the midst of whatever it is you are going through.  So often people look everywhere except to God during the trials of life.  We are always better off placing our trust in the Lord rather than the fragile and useless comforts the world offers.  Jesus Christ offers salvation and a solid place to stand during the storms that come our way.  He is the solid rock and safe fortress; He will bring us through the storm with rejoicing.

So often during a problem we begin to panic.  When that happens we are no longer thinking clearly.  Christ comes alongside us and not only offers shelter, but He also provides the reassurance that we are going to make it through – with rejoicing and victory.

Are the winds of some trial howling around you today?  Trust in the Lord and have faith in Him.  He is able to bring us through.  The troubled soul finds comfort in Jesus even during the worst and most difficult times of life.  In Jesus there is peace.  In Jesus there is hope.  He will help, guide, and comfort.  Trust in Him today.
